Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football and volunteering for the community. In the first place, he was born with Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on a farm near Eufala in Oklahoma as one of the nine children they had. The Selmons were also among the three siblings that represented Oklahoma on the field of football. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in country by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. Over the course of three seasons, Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In 1975, he received his third scholarship and was named an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received his bachelor's diploma in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in his time in college. After graduating, Lee Roy settled in Tampa which is where he played for 9 years with the Buccaneers. Three times, he was selected All-Pro. Then he began his business career. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why Lee Roy was honored when the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the most prominent young men in the country. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch larger and weighing the hefty 256 pounds at college when he was an athlete, was captain of his team during the season of 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993, as assistant director of sports. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame named his as a member in the year the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
